While the GOP spent $150,000 on a new wardrobe for the vice presidential pick, the average U.S. household spent $1,874 on clothes and services in 2006, according to the most recent statistics.

Is anyone really surprised? The only thing Palin has going for her are her good looks. Do you think McCain would have picked her if she were male, old or ugly?

Why did the McCain campaign feel it necessary to spend such an exorbitant sum to "doll up" Palin? That certainly sends the wrong message to millions of Americans who buy clothing off the rack and shoes at department and discount stores. No wonder the McCain campaign hasn't been calling Obama "elitist" lately.

Democrats choose to focus on the dumbest things. If Michelle Obama spent the same amount I know you wouldn't be saying this about her.

No one ever criticized Jackie Onasis' wardrobe.

The sad thing is that some ignorant people will make their voting decision based on things like this.

Jackie Onassis PAID for her OWN wardrobe.  That's the difference.  She didn't use people's donation money. Neither did Nancy Reagan. No one complains when you pay yourself.

That having been said, I am glad she's spending so much money. It leaves less cash for robocalls and such.

Well, Sarah Palin has to be groomed and polish before launching her for President in 2012.

Fair enough.

Is this not the most pathetic commentary on our national press? Since when is this election about Palin's warddrobe? The press has collectively given Obama a pass on critical issues and has presented more obscene, absurd, irrelevant newsprint on Palin.

PATHETIC

Laura Bush said that this country was ready for a woman for President, I thought that was Hillary, but nah, she met Sarah Palin.

The stores where Sarah Palin got her wardrobe are fancy deparment stores.

Hi American are.., I think the point is more that if you portray yourself as a "hockey-mom" from middle America, one would imagine that you would be as economically conservative with something as non-essential as wardrobe as you would be with your own national policies. In other words, one would think she would walk the talk. However, due to the fact that her wardobe budget could buy a decent house in middle America and since she was only announced as the Rep. VP candidate at the end of August, I would argue that spending $75,000 per month on clothing isn't exactly walking the talk.

You Democrats really are a self centered bunch of double standard idiots!!

Sure according to you it is okay for Obama to spend millions and millions of dollars to buy the office of President. But isn't that what you do best.  Buy what is the best for your party??

What comes around goes around!!!

As we all are seeing right now with the financial crisis - that you Democrats caused - what goes around comes around.

I hope that you Democrats will be happy when you all get screwed.

Old and ugly? Probably not. But. I think Palin is getting raked over the coals with this needlessly. Point 1. When Senators Obama and McCain show up at an event in white-tie tuxedos, does anyone b***H" $2000+ a pop at Brooks Bros. Point 2. EVERYONE knows that women's clothes cost more than mens'. Racket? Who knows? But for Palin to go through all that is not unusual (for a female VP candidate from Alaska) This is a non-issue if you ask me - maybe if she jetted to Paris, yeah, that would be over the top. Pick on her stupid political stands, not on the clothes.

Meso horney,

Hopefully you don't believe the BS you are shoveling. B.O. is the wizard behind the curtain. It is all about stagecraft and that is what BO excels at. How can anyone be so idiotic to listen to someone say, Change, Change, Change the Change, ad nauseum, and believe you have someone special. Look at all the wonderful change BO caused in Chicago, and then believe even for a tiny moment that he is going to change the world. That is the absurdity of which I am speaking, that you cannot find an honest journalist to do a story on the results of BO's labors in Chicago, yet it is a front page story, that the Repubs want to make Palin look nice.

Doubly Idiotic Journalism!

stupid is as stupid does...

Exactly...that's the reason for this article.  I missed the one about the price tag ofMichelle Obama's clothes since the start of the race...where's that?

Not just Michelle Obama, but let's hear the price tag of all the potential first ladies wardrobes throughout history?

If Palin were to wear an $100 dress like Michelle did once the press would be calling her a dirtball.

If this is all they can come up with to discredit Palin now I think they're in trouble.

I know what the problem is here...when Sarah Palin's in office she will do what she did in Alaska...CLEAN HOUSE OF WORTHLESS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WASTING TAXPAYERS MONEY.  That pisses some people off and causes a few loudmouths to lie about her now.

Has MSM reported on this information?

"She cut her $68,000 salary by 10 per cent, saying such a stipend for the mayor of such a small community was "embarrassing."

She kept a jar on her desk filled with the phone numbers of Wasilla residents and would pull a name out each day and call to ask how things were going."

http://www.thestar.com/printArticle/498680

I think 150,000 for someone who's running for Vice President of this country to get elected isn't so bad when she does things like this that will save our country millions.  The article stated this applied to her family of 6.

I found some more info:

"On the attack of the day, expensive clothes, Obama also has something of a handicap in relating to the average guy. Obama likes expensive designer suits. He even had one custom made for his Democratic Convention acceptance speech.

Tonight, Barack Obama will wear a navy blue, worsted wool two-button suit that Hartmarx custom made just for him. Hartmarx is a 121-year-old Chicago-based manufacturer of high-end men's suits. Obama, who wears a 40 long with a 33-inch waist, has worn Hart Schaffner Marx suits but always off the rack, said an inside source. He favors the Gold Trumpeter collection. His new custom suit is 97 percent merino wool and 3 percent cashmere, has pleated plants with a 1 1/2-inch cuff and would cost about $1,500 off the rack.

The least expensive Hart Schaffner Marx suit retails for $695, hardly within the budget of the average working man.

Obama's taste in fine menswear has hardly been discussed. Yet Palin's wardrobe supposedly disqualifies her from relating to the middle class. More likely, the fact that this story was even written means that Palin has been a little to successful in making inroads with the group of voters liberals, Democrats, and the press believe should rightfully be theirs alone."

Sure - Obama wants to spread the wealth - how about working hard for your money and being able to keep it!!!

You Democrats are the ones responsible for all this mess and yet you focus on Sarah Palin and what she is wearing.   Please get a grip!!!

you gotta love when Jesus Christ reveals liars amongst us.  Sarah Palin is a liar.  She pretends to represent the concerns of the working class, then allows the republicans to spend $150,000 on her clothes?  This is absolutely madness!  Iin this season of extreme economic pain for most of America's middle class, this pimpstress would have the audacity to recieve $150,000 worth of clothes?

Shameful Republicans.  Please someone, anyone.... take the trash out.

Donna, As I've explained to you repeatedly, it was caused by Deregulation. This in turn allowed Wall St to create CDO's, which in turn they insured with AIG, etc..  AIG used CDS's (derivatives) to spread this risk, which is normally a good tactic, except when the chit hit the fan, everyone panicked because no one knows who ultimately liable for the CDS's as AIG sold and resold the risk and chopped it up into little pieces and sold it again and again, the people who bought it also resold it.

Again, this crisis was caused by Gramm-Bliley-Leach and McCain, who didn't learn his lesson about trusting bankers during keating5 which he would have been jailed for except for his War Record(which I agreed with giving him a pass). BUT HE DIDN'T LEARN A DAMN THING. So instead of bankers and Wall St eatting dirt because of CDO's, now thanks to CDS's (also unregulated) caused the Wall St crisis spread into the Insurance industry and THAT's would caused this crisis.

One day, you will realize, as I finally did, that all your name calling and condescending remarks drive Independents and Hillary supporters to the opposition, so thank you for helping Obama.

All those shallow-minded, picky media who have run out of faults to pick on Palin and GOP, are appraently over-paid and have nothing better to report now! And, there are those dumb people out there who thinks the media is feeding them so well....yo! wake up fellas and be real!  Ask yourself the question: why is it that the media NEVER asks the same harsh questions to Obama? They probably say that they did and Obama aides just had to answer them, "No, Obama and family pays for everything with their own earnings."  and the media are already satisfied with just that!  Sick, untrustworthy media!  Making a hooha over every little bit of thing and clobbering the GOP, not sometimes, but everytime, is down-right unfair!

I think that it is plain stupid for people to be upset over how much Sarah Palin has spent on clothing. You can bet the Obama's have spent that or more. People should focus on the positive and stop listening to the drivel that Obama and their supports are creating.

No one asks why Obama will not put his hand on the Bible or salute the American Flag, if he is vote in as President. Wake up people! He wants to even change our National Anthem. I think those questions should come before, how much money is spent on clothing.

The Problem here is that no one looks at Obama's costs of wardrobe..How about $10,000.00 - $25,000.00 custom made suites, $1000.00-3,000.00 +shirts, $500.00-1750.00 belts and shoes $2500.00-$5000.00 shoes...how about asking Obama to present the bills for his clothes. The biases here is appalling and I am disgusted with this topic! We should be interested in the character and judgement of the candidate, not how much she is spending and not looking at how much He is spending or even Joe Biden..His wife had a $4000.00+ Suite when he was nominated, Did anyone mention this or even asked. Incredible! incredible. The media is out of control and oh so bias and really is doing the American people a disfavor. ! The sadness here is the people with weak minds that linger on this, that waste their time  because their minds have been manipulated by the corrupt media....Shame on them and shame on us that we focus on these ridiculous accusations instead on spreading a little love, compassion and most of all fairness.. To much hate comes from the media and from the people that are getting caught up on all this hate.Shame on you! Our country in in crisis not only monetarily, but morally and on a verge of civil war of hate. Think again people, give a smile to a stranger, stop with the accusations with all of our nominees, focus on the issues and don't let this corrupt media manipulate your minds....We will soon be in mourning..for true fair journalism is quickly dieing...

I have been wondering (as I'm sure many Americans are) why McCain, against the advice of his closest advisors, would bring on this woman to be his running mate even though it is increasingly obvious this irresponsible choice would be his downfall and waste of his last chance as the Presidency.

I think I've figured it out.  With so many people thinking that George Bush is not so smart, Bush must have convinced his buddy to bring her on to make him look good!

Can you see the conversation?  "John, I can't leave office with my popularity so low and people thinking I'm an idiot.  Here's what you do.  Search the country for the biggest airhead you can find.  Be sure she's a babe so she draws the crowds.  Make sure she says NUKULAR, just like me.  It would be good if she has a pregnant teenager and/or a special needs child to draw sympathy.  Pull her out of the woods in an unpopulated area where people know nothing about her and hope that it will take the entire campaign for people to find out who she really is.  Maybe people will be so dazzled by her looks they won't pay attention to her record or education.  Then surround yourself with Rudy Guliani and Joe Lieberman for the real interviews and otherwise, dress her up well and keep her mouth shut until after the election.  If you are elected, put her in charge of nothing important.  I think it will work, John.  Then I can leave office looking a lot better than I do right now!"

Obviously fiction, but there has to be SOME reason she was selected!

We were recently away on vacation and encountered many travelers from the U.K., Australia, and Canada.  It was remarkable just how informed they were about the campaign in the U.S.  They were hystericlaly laughing at Sarah Palin and thought that McCain, despite his experience and record, is obviously not too smart for choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate.  It's hard to respond to these comments as I really couldn't think of one good reason why he chose her.  McCain was well respected before this campaign.  It seems he has sold his soul to the devil with his recent robo calls and his incitement of beyond nasty chants at his campaign stops.  Clearly the polls reflect this when people are asked if they are bothered by these things.  If he was smart, at this point in the campaign, he would straighten out his act, bring back his previous way of campaigning, and be able to walk away from this with his head held high.

palins always been a big spender-

To an outsider, it would seem hard to do, but an oil-rich town with zero debt on the day she was inaugurated mayor was left saddled with $22 million of debt by the time she moved away to become governor – especially since nothing was spent on things such as improving the city’s infrastructure or building a much-needed sewage treatment plant. So what did Mayor Palin spend the taxpayer’s money on, if not fixing streets and scrubbing sewage?

For starters, she remodelled her office. Several times over, as a matter of fact.

Then Palin spent $1 million on an unnecessary, new park that no one other than the contractors and Palin seemed to want. Next, Sarah doled out more than $15 million of taxpayer money for a sports complex that she shoved through even though the city did not own clear title to the land; now, seven years later, the matter is still in litigation and lawyer fees are said to be close to at least half of the original estimated price of the facility.

She also worked hard to get voters approval of a $5.5 million bond proposal for roads that could have been built without borrowing. Anchorage may not be the center of the financial universe but, like good Republicans everywhere, Sarah Palin knows how to please Alaskan bankers and bond dealers.

she is also every bit as racist as rev. wright-

besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillian

I wear extremely expensive clothes that are too young and too boldly colored  for my First Lady Image but it sure catches the viewers' eye and that's what's important. Lets you are I go on a little shopping spree - nothing too extravagent - $150,000 or so should do it."

If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "token hire." If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "game changer."

If you live in an Urban area and you get a girl pregnant you're a "baby daddy." If you're the same in Alaska you're a "teen father." (Actually, according to your own MySpace page you're an F'n redneck that don't want any kids, but that's too long a phrase for the evil liberal media to take out of context and flog morning noon and night).

Black teen pregnancies? A "crisis" in black America . White teen pregnancies? A "blessed event."

If you grow up in Hawaii you're "exotic." Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential "American story."

Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you're "unpatriotic." Name your kid Track, you're "colorful."

If you're a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fully vetting the individual you're "reckless." A Republican who doesn't fully vet is a "maverick."

If you say that for the "first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country" it makes you "unfit" to be First Lady. If you are a registered member of a fringe political group that advocates secession that makes you "First Dude."

A DUI from twenty years ago is "old news." A speech given without proper citation from twenty years ago is "relevant information."

And, finally, if you're a man and you decide to run for office despite your wife's reoccurrence of cancer you're a "questionable spouse." If you're a woman and you decide to run for office despite having five kids including a newborn... Well, we don't know what that is 'cause THAT'S NOT A FAIR QUESTION TO ASK.

              Hi Donna and Americans are,

If you believe that her spending habits do not oppose her "hockey-mom" values, then that is your opinion and I shall not try to change your minds.
I personally believe that no one will ever change someone's mind on this election through post sites like this one. We can only state how the facts presented affect our decisions.

Donna, if you are concerned about Sen. Obama "buying" the election, I would advise you to read 10.20.08's NYT article "In fine print, a proliferation of Large donors." I provide some direct quotes and you can judge. Make sure you read the article though!!

"Senator (Obama) 's announcement on Sunday of his $150 million fund-raising haul in September, has focused on the explosion of small donors."

"And Mr. McCain's campaign, which had not disclosed most of these donors until last week, has taken the concept to new levels, encouraging deep-pocketed supporters to write checks of more than $70,000, by adding state parties as beneficiaries of his fund-raising."

"Compared with Mr. Obama, Mr. McCain drew a slightly larger percentage of his big-donor money from the financial industry, about a fifth of his total."

"With his emphasis on offshore drilling , Mr. McCain has also enjoyed heavy support from generous benefactors in the oil and gas industry, a group Mr. Obama drew relatively little from."

              Hi agnsttheflow,

The article you cite is titled "Palin's track record marked by bitter clashes," and unfortunately also includes the following quotes:

"She mused about banning books, was accused of being in the pocket of the National Rifle Association, dissolved a commission seeking ways to improve the city's problem with drinking and driving, and faced charges she had tried to break laws to put her supporters on council. On Day 120 of her administration, the first day such a move was allowed by law, she faced an incipient recall movement."

"Langill, a fiscal conservative, butted heads with Palin on financial and administrative issues.
"She and her backers are borderline extreme conservatives," Langill said. "They think only their way is the right way and if you question that, you will feel the backlash.

"I define extremists as those who push their agenda on others."

Linda Beller, a member of the Wasilla Historical Society, also bucked Palin when she tried to move a museum from the downtown, claiming it was costing Wasilla $16.79 every time a visitor walked through the museum door."

But thank you for at least putting a link up!

Do I think McCain would have picked Sarahcuda if she was old, male or ugly?  Of course not.  If he wanted a woman on the ticked, Elizabeth Dole is more than qualified.  McCain's trophy wife is starting to show some signs of age, so he needed a trophy veep.  Shallow old goat.

There is Nothing wrong with dressing sharp and smart for a job interview.

But there is something wrong with bragging about being a fiscal spendthrift and tagging your opponant as an "elitist" and how much you understand the "common folk" because you are one of them, when it is clear you are NOT!. $150,000 in a little over two months for Palin is ostentatious, hypocritical, and really bad judgment. All this fuss over elitism as once again, it is the current Neo Cons who are the ones out of touch with the common Joe and Jane.

Yeah, I'd say that image and message should be cohesive. So far Obama/Biden are cohesive in their message, leadership, appearance and focus.

See the candidates Soles here: Who is really pounding the pavement for YOU.

If this ends up being a duplicate, I apologize.  My computer is not  cooperating today.

Considering that she is the governor and this isn't her first rodeo, I would think she has plenty of business suits that are quite acceptable for the campaign trail.  The fact that she wants the campaign to buy her clothes, give her a makeover, spend $4,100 on makeup (WTF?), and stepping back from the campaign, she bills the state of Alaska for her kids' travel and charges a per diem for staying in her own house bothers me.  It's that sense of entitlement.  She really reminds me so much of Huckabee.  And just like Huckabee, she's married to the redneck man of her dreams.

Whatever, when November 4th gets here I can vote for Obama/Biden, then above the law Palin can go home to Alaska and reak all the havok she wants. I was never going to vote for McCain, but I scense that he doesn't deserve what has been happening to him. He has an incompetent team who are only working against him.

He really needs to retire with dignity. go home and be with his Grandchildren and prepare one of his children to run for President. This time selecting a well vetted running mate. (He still wouldn't have won though because waited too late to campaign. He thought it was in the bag) God bless him.

Proud Liberal - I've read your coments before and I hope you don't do anything drastic after Palin becomes your vice-president. Don't you want her to look good while representing the United States of America? She's smart and has a lot of talent that MSNBC will never admit to.

I remember being stuck at LAX once waiting for Bill Clinton to finish his hair cut. He inconvenienced thousnds of people at that time. He cost the airport a lot of money. Sarah Palin getting clothes and services helps the economy and contributes to the tax revenue. What's the problem?

Devils_Advocate - That's what makes the economy strong. People buying products and paying taxes.
I'm not an idiot like a lot of suckers who took out a second mortgage and now are crying for government assistance. And I'm saving for my retirement so I'm not going to spend all my savings. But I make a good living and do spend money. I do contribute to the economy and pay plenty in taxes. I'm not a person who thinks that the government is going to take care of me.
I love bringing joy to people, glad to see people laugh. Just remember how to laugh when Obama returns to the senate on November 5th.

I will feel for you when Obama wins Nov 5th - already in a state of denial, its people like you who are going to really suffer.  Please do not do anything drastic like harming yourself...  I have always had a soft spot for dumb animals...

You are proving my point Devils_Advocate. You have a bunch of idiots out there that the democrats said "you can afford to buy a home" when they couldn't!! You also have a greater majority of people that can afford it. Who the heck needs the government to come in and help them. Certainly not the people that could afford it. You go to work and do your best and enjoy the American dream. Spend what you can afford. Save enough to cover your rear end and take care of yourself and your family. I don't overspend on charge cards Do you?

I will feel for the country if Obama gets anywhere near winning. He will stop the economy. People with money will keep it in a safe place until he's gone. I might just sit at home and not contribute to my local retailers. I'll stay home and play with my smart animals. Sorry about your dumb ones! Train them better.

                          sorry you misunderstood my post.

But if you think SPEND SPEND SPEND is the answer, then by your own admission, do so. But dont defend Sarah Palin and the GOP spending their money on her.  Its a gross slap in the face of the poor AND middle-class families of America.  Again I reinterate- stupid is as stupid does and McCain's campaign has run the STUPIDIST campaign ever!!

And who should we hold ultimately responsible for the McCain fiasco - why none other then McCain himself.  If he is running this campaign like he would the Presidency - I shudder at the reprocussions.   I see a McCain and Sarah Palin pointing fingers at Russia and China and pounding their pulpits and yelling COMMUNISTS, SOCIALISTS, etc.. and totally isolating the USA from what little good respect remains...

I have said it before and I will say it again - THE WORLD DOES NOT HATE AMERICA!  That is a total fabrication by dumb stupid people - The world hates our current Leadership!  And McCain and Palin are playing on this fear to the American People - SHAME ON FEAR POLITICS... SHAME SHAME SHAME...

While I hate to interrupt this entertaining little squabble you two have going on here, I have a few side comments I'd like to throw in there.  First, the democrats aren't the ones who allowed just any modestly-waged American to buy a home.  Nor were the republicans.  The responsible ones were the non-partisan underwriting companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - without them, no one gets approved for a loan.  Period.  Secondly, while Palin might be perfectly intelligent, she is nowhere near knowledgable enough on foreign policy, economic markets, supreme court decisions, constitutional rights, separation of powers, etc. etc. etc. to run this country and she knows it.  It's obvious, stop arguing.  Lastly, while spending money does in fact drive an economy, all of the money is being horded at the top at the moment.  So long as the CEOs continue to receive more money than they're bringing in, no amount of spending will save us.  And that's a fact.

                          Okay, I'm done.  Continue.

Donna - the REPUBLICANS have had control of congress for six of the last eight years and spent a ONE TRILLION DOLLAR surfit that Clinton built up by reducing government spending and then Bush has driven us into a TWO TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT with his illegal and unfounded war in Iraq - really, seriously, kill 200,000 plus Iraqi's to save them from one man - where is the hypocracy in this...  and driving our country into bankruptcy and debt to China...

AND FOR YOU FOLKS THAT SAY THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN IN CONTROL OF CONGRESS FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS - that is a big farce and a lie - congress has been hog-tied 49.5% republican to 50.5% democrat with Liarmann (may he not get re-elected) being the .5% and I am being gracious here -  Liarmann is neither demo nor republican - he is jewish looking out for Israel only...  a traitor to *this* country...  but I degress - with a LAME DUCK PRESIDENT who vetoes anything he doesnt like and cant be overturned except with a 2/3 majority of congress which democrats do not have....

Hopefully in November - we will have a democratic congress with a democratic President and perhaps get some meaningful legislation through.   And if hopefully Obama can get us out of Iraq and our troops back home, we can start to pull ourselves out of debt.  I hope like FDR he puts the troops to use, re-building our roads, bridges, dams, levies, railroads, freeways and other failing infrastructures....

GO OBAMA/BIDEN FOR THE GOOD OF THIS COUNTRY, THE WORLD, AND ALL US *LITTLE* PEOPLE I.E. THE POOR AND MIDDLE-CLASS WHO REALLY MAKE UP THIS GREAT COUNTRY.

Have you noticed that the things repub say about Obama is something someone who he knows or knew did or said something, but Palin and McCain did or said what they were accused of??  Not associations. Them. They did it!! It is documented. They did it, Themselves.

That's why they don't want to make sure that others have a fair chance, _not hand out, not welfare, their children want ot eat too. He means working people. Seems no one clarified that. They don't mind going to Target nor even the thrift store. Thrift store clothing are expensive to them you know- They want to keep it for themselves. Maybe you don't mind paying for their clothes, But I haven't shopped in over a year. How irresponsible, she has too many children to shop that way. Shame, shame.

but she is not as stupid as Mrs Palin only reason that her negatives are so high is because the republican have been blocking all the bills that they have tried to pass. this country is in grave danger of becoming a third world country, because of folks like you.

truthnotsci-fi - The press will not investigate Obama. You have hit the nail on the head! We know nothing about him. But we do know a lot about the people he has associated with over the years. And they are not upstanding Americans. His pastor is a man that hates America, his friend that had him over to his house to start his political career is admitted terrorist. The press digs up a lot of dirt on McCain/Palin. Most of it is questionable (on MSNBC).

I have to admit I have a hard time understanding your second paragraph. But if you're talking about thrift stores and Target can you tell me why the democrats hate Wal Mart?

One thing that Ms. Pelosi did get passed was the minimum wage increase. I remember people saying that it might cost jobs. I wonder if there has been any job loss since then.

At least Sarah is buying things and paying taxes on them.

The press has looked into Obamas background. Not much there except the nuts he knew. But I see that McCain and Palin have it all under control they can just make up something.

I know people who talk stupid too, but that pastor talked dumb to be an educated man, he is very bitter. You can,t blame Obama for what he said. It is not acceptable, what else can the man say. Should he say "I hate Him"??//

I will tell you exactlly why some people hate Wal-Mart.
1-They take good paying jobs from american workers and send them to China for the cheapest labor in the world.
2-They undersell every other store in whatever town they goto and put hard working Americans out of biz with the tactics stated above.
3-They force workers to work after their shifts for NO PAY.Yes it's been proven in court and they had to reimburse said workers.
Is there anything you can say in Wal-Marts favor besides that they offer tons of very low paying jobs to the people they put out of biz and sell cheap products?

Isn't it funny how in 2000 McCain ran against Bush with a platform of NOT cutting taxes on the rich. Was he a socilist them like they claim Obama is????

I was making the point that Sarah Palin is running on the platform that she is just like everyone esle, yet has no problem spending $150,000 on a wardrobe, twice the amount most people make in this country.

BTW, it's $18,000 a week!  Can you believe that.

Sarah Palin is in the horizon to run for President in 2012. Therefore, it's in order to make the investment while she meets people, shows on TV and then she picked the image of an executive.

"McCain - fined and found quilty of the Keating Five Scandal" -false

In 1991, McCain, along with his four Democratic colleagues, was found guilty by the Senate Ethics Committee of using "poor judgment" for attending the meetings with regulators on Keating's behalf.

He attended questionable meetings.....that was it.

"McCain- did 32 traitorous propoganda tapes for the Vietcong thus his name Songbird.."

                                 -not enough evidence to matter

"The "32" number seems to begin with Tracy Usry in 1992. His comment wasn't part of the select committee testimony, but was made outside chambers. He has been quoted ad infinitum as saying "information shows" that McCain made 32 films or recordings, but to my knowledge Usry never showed his information. No count of "propaganda" performances by McCain, voluntary or involuntary, comes close to this number.

The 32-propaganda-tape charge against him is ultimately a sideshow, less a "swift-boating" (since Democrats seem to have steered clear from it for the most part) than a conspiracy theory that's almost guaranteed to be unverifiable. If anyone in the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee thought it could be a silver bullet that could destroy McCain, we'd have heard much more about the story than most people have so far." http://think3institute.blogspot.com/2008/09/number-32-mccain-propaganda-tape.html

After being imprisoned for 5 1/2 years in North Vietnam I'm sure your not the same person when you come home to your wife.  This makes McCain and Ronald Regan part of the 10% of the rest of our population who's gotten divorced. (population including kids )  Adultry is sex outside of marriage.....who can cast the first stone?  You say he apologized numerous times...end of discussion.

Everyone defends Palin with "her clothes will be auctioned off". That just means IF she's VP, she will need all new clothes? I have no love for Palin, way back to "I was back to work the day after Trig was born", but let's face it folks, the first woman to get this far is doomed to be ripped to shreds. The joke about Hillary is that she has balls, but the good thing about her- is that she's got balls. Where as Palin, God bless her, fuels her own pire with her "you bet cha" and all the winking and being unprepared for all the interviews, except the one with FOX -teehee-

Barak has the monopoly on being condescending.  Do you recall the comment about small town folks clinging to their religion and guns?  How about, "do you know any plumbers that make 250K?"  Talk about condescending, and as a matter of fact, I do know plumbers that make that much.

The real reason why you don't like Palin is the fact that she a successful mother of 5 who is pro life and has traditional values.. That scares the hell out of liberals who would  die if a women with these values ever made it that far before any of the feminist pro-choice baby killers..

Yes Boom I do remember that remark from Obama, just like I remember Palin saying she liked being in the PRO-AMERICAN parts of the counrty.
No I don't dislike Palin because she is pro life.I dislike her becuase she wants to push HER morals on others. If she wants to keep her child that's fine with me,just don't tell me how to live mine, thank you very much.
I always thought that big government did that sort of thing, not get out of the way and let people live their own lives like the small government they say they want.

Sarah Palin belives is killing babies. Every man or woman killed in that war IS sombodies baby. Killing animals while hunting, killing. You don't know what she believes in. She says she is just like you, not me, is she telling the truth?

                                  • Are you stupid?
                                  • Unable to hold an interview without practice?
                                  • Carless with your baby allowing your 6 year old to carry him down stairs?
                                  • Irresponsible with allowing your young children to attend meetings with you when they should be in school?

No one is jealous of her. She is the last person I'd be jealous of. She wants to be like Hilary, but there is only one!

Give me a break you liberals have been pushing your believes down our throat for years.. As for comment number 7 how can you compare killing a baby who has no way of defending itself to someone who is a grown man or women with a free will who choose military life??? I grantee you Palin as spend her life trying the total opposite of Hillary.. and that is what scares you the most that maybe someone who does not share your views will make it to the White House before one of your liberal Nancy's or Hillary's do... You know what is sad I did not agree with any of Hillary Clinton's beliefs but when Obama's campaign was doing this same sexist routine on her  I deafened Hillary because it was not right what they did to her...

Bernese, to be jealous of someone you usually have to admire something about them. Nothing about her cause the smallest hint of jealousy. Are you jealous? You keep saying it as if that's what you spend your life being jealous of someone. That's just stupid. Why can't you get that Palin is not any where near VP material.

Listen, when women decide to stomp with men in the same catagory they need a thick skin. Nothing is off limits.

I personally don't believe in abortion, but I can't tell anyone else what to do. I believe that a baby is alive when it is swiming around in it's Pappa's sack. And killing is killing no matter what the reason. War, robbery, whatever.  They are still dead~

Things done to women are not considered sexist if they are part of the game-so to speak.

                                  Break granted

I guess you are more accomplished than 'Sarah..or is this a little womanly jealousy?
Stop being mean! we need to review the issues and stop getting personal..it does not become woman putting women down...you can disagree but putting women down is not acceptable..not becoming... and it only hurts all women! Respect for Woman from Woman-a must for the growth of Women in our nation for our nation!!!
Shame on you..but I guess when you feel lower than low Some people need a crutch to bring themselves up....your not that bad, pick yourself off the meanness floor and look at the issues and vote for what you think may help you, but meanness is bringing us all down and really we don't need any more hate in our world. We need fairness, love and compassion...

Truthnotsci-fi...You need to get your facts..the only one here that voted to not save babies after botched abortions is Obama...not Sarah Palin, if anything she is very Conservative...does not believe in abortions-obviously she had the choice but did not take it even though knowing she would have a down syndrome baby, that is what I call conviction..Although I believe in Abortion, not like Obama that is to liberal for me but I do respect Sarah for this decision. She also mentioned she was tollerant to others beliefs...So stop with this BS-get your facts correct!

PS: The clothes will be auctioned off, these clothes will be worth 5x more. She is a history making person and therefore the clothes will be worth much much much more. The money will be donated probably to a Children's with special needs organization! So being mean and talking BS is not fair... Our world needs fairness not meanness... it will make a world of difference... Wow, imagine if we all could be nice to one another....no matter who or what...we have the right to disagree and vote for what we believe, however meanness will only bring us down...We don't need our nation any lower than it is now, we are in a crisis and I believe that if everyone was nicer to one another it would make a difference...so I wish you all well!

There are a lot of reasons I don't like Palin, but none of them are on the list you gave.  I wouldn't even begin to call Palin "pro-life".  Pro-fetus, perhaps, but she thinks absolutely nothing of sending 18, 19 and 20 year olds off to Iraq to die.  I'm far more concerned with the people who are already here.  Sarahcuda's stated that she thinks god wants us to fight this war.  What's the difference between Sarah Palin and and an insurgent suicide bomber?  The god they worship and the fact that the insurgent at least has the cojones to die for his cause.  Blah blah about Sarah Palin's son joining he military.  While I do respect her son for his sacrifice, if Sarah's so sure god wants this war, why hasn't she enlisted and gone over to Iraq to get her ass shot off?

You mentioned that she's "traditional."  By whose definition of traditional?  What you call traditional I might consider to be totally off the wall.

Well - aren't we tacky?  MSNBC - as always in this campaign -  has found yet another way to take a jab at anyone who's not an obama-ite.  I hope the fence riders choose to go against the media tide (if for no other reason than to make a statement that we're sick and tired of being fed so much one-sided poo!)

Did anyone in the news media - or Oprah - or the kiss-ups on View (not you, Elizabeth!) -  comment on the amount paid for the suits that obama & biden wear?  or what the Clintons spent on Chelsea flying at taxpayer expense? or question the OBSCENE amount of $$ that obama is paying for his 24 hour tv channel?  Do you honestly think that any of his campaign money will go toward helping the 'middle class'?  As you know - he gets to keep it when this is all over!

For once this year, why aren't issues being addressed that actually matter to the country and the rest of the world.  We really must be a laughing stock because of the disrespect so many showing toward the most popular Gov in the USA!  They're probably also laughing, and dear President Reagan is probably spinning) due to the fact  that so many American's are turning a blind eye to the writing on the wall if o/b wins.

People are sending money into the Obama/Biden campaign of their own free will. They are not spending tax payers money. I only sent $15.00. Imagine if 1,000,000 people sent in $15.00 how much is that? My own free will.

Being a taxpayer I probably sent some to McCain too without my permission. Reagan is not turning over anywhere he is probably happy to see that the US citizens have finally taken their blinders off. We ain't taking it anymore!!! Thay can't feed us the okie-doke anymore.

Americans are much wiser. "I'm one of you" means "let's keep them out" Step out, test the water. The Earth is round.

Can you not see the hypocrisy of stating that you are just like the rest of us and going out on a $150,000 clothing shopping spree?  Is that really too hard for your Republican reptilian brain to understand.

Not to mention using the State Police turbo-prop to travel around Alaska, and to take your kids on these trips even though it had nothing to do with State business, etc. etc.

But, hey, she's just like everyone else.  If we go by that, then we all must really be looking to abuse our positions.

Have any of these folks questioned obama further about his plan to take a chunk of their money, effectively laying off small business employees and cause the larger corporations to continue to take their plants across the border to keep from being taxed EVEN higher?  When those who are complaining about her wardrobe, quit buying Jimmy Cho shoes, or Prada, or spending thousands on their dog's wardrobe - then they have the right to pout!

Jackie Kennedy is gone, way down in her grave. She was living in the style that she was used to. Palin is just trying to come up. She won't even make that kind of money as VP.

There is no indication that Jackie used public campaign funds to buy her clothes.

The story is relevant for these reasons:

                                            1. The story highlights what a social conservative deems to be reasonable when it comes to their self interest
                                            2. the story dovetails into yesterdays story of Palin using State of Alaskan funds for her private purposes when she used state funds to take her family with her on trips, and
                                            3. the purchases appear to violate the law

Federal campaign finance law prohibits the use of campaign funds for personal use, but it defines personal use as any expense "that would exist irrespective of the candidate's campaign or duties as a federal officeholder.

I guess that this does not matter since Princess Sarah has repeatedly demonstrated that she is above the law.  Or may she does not wear clothes when she is in Alaska.

In any event the wrong will be righted when the Republicans donate the clothes to the 90210 Salvation Army.  I wonder what Joe the Plumber would think

OK Republicans........  spin it  .....  change the subject and deflect  ......  lol

It is well documented that Joe Kennedy paid for all of Jackie Kennedy's clothes.  Yes, she was very well-dressed.  But not at taxpayer expense.

The really amazing thing is that they did not become Republicans so they could keep the income tax free.

Take the Cindy McCain 2006 tax return for instance.  That is a small business return.  It reflects 6 million dollars of income.  Of this $299k * is SALARY for all of her hard work in her inherited beer business  .....  $19k * is TAX FREE interest  ...   $40k * is taxable interest  ...  $163k * is stock dividend  (*1/2 of the actual amount with Arizona Community Property allocation) .....   $743k is capital gains income which is taxed at a lower rate than someone who makes $40k a year pay for income that they actually WORK FOR.  (Because the schedules were not attached it is not possible to tell whether she put the allowed $25k into her tax deferred 401k and thus paid no tax on that at all)

                                            Oh well

TexMan - Let's compare Ted Kennedy's tax return. Problem is you can't because he collects all his money from tax dollars. Except for all the family oil wells around the country. No wonder he doesn't want to drill in Alaska, it will cut into his profits.

I'm not sure what your point is exactly. She works in a small business and pays taxes. Do you feel she should pay more? What was the total she paid in federal income taxes? How many people did her small business employ? How much more did those wages contribute to taxes?

I'm sick of this class envy crap. Some people make more than others. It will be like that until the end of our lives. We are not all entitled to be equal.

Obama came into the election wearing Brooks Brother suits and shirts and lots of them.  Palin couldn't afford much more than she was wearing and still can't.  No one was forking big bucks her way to do anything personal.  Her money was going to her kids and house.  Don't forget the media hated her clothes, education, manner of speach and everything else about her.  They can't stand a strong woman.  Look what they did to Hillery.  The clothes are on loan,  NOT a gift. Maybe you should look inside of yourselves to see just what your real problem is with her.

Secretary Of State.  And why not make William Ayers Secretary Of Defense since he apparently knows how to make bombs.  Tony Rezko can be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.  We can make his arrogant wife Secretary of Education and teach the kids how to act like a bigot.  That is what you should be concerned with!  Forget about the wardrobe and wake up!!!!!!!

You know, who really cares about this?????  Everyone seems to want to jump on the Republican Party for any little reason they can.  How about the Dems???  Their fearless leader has spent his life being groomed by terrorists and socialists.  I would think that would be of more concern to the average American more then how much was spent for some clothing.  Are you people all nuts????  You have been drinking far too much Kool-Aid and being brainwashed by someone that might be a good speaker, but look at his background.  He has aligned himself with terrorists and socialists and is ready to do whatever it takes to ruin this country.  He was a proud member of a church that voted Louis Farrakhan "Man Of The Year".  I suppose if Obama wins that he'll make Louie F.

Why is it that when the media reports on those hair cuts it's news that we need to hear about because it shows how eliteist they are,but when it's news that goes against the Rep party it's petty and the liberal media taking hits??

Kool-aid OMG!! Barak Obama grew up a regular guy from Hawaii raised by his  mother and her parents. He was not really around many blacks back then, but you know the old saying "one drop of black blood, you're black". Now this guy finds himself not accepted by many of his white peers nor kids the other poeple on the island.

His grandparents poured all they had into him because being white they knew what he would face as a black man. Shame on him for getting an education and making sometihng of himself. Now he's being groomed by terrorist??? Boy, will his grandmother be disapointed. And his wife, where does she play in this?? Everyone knows that if you are black it is easy to make accusations about you because it is readily believed. Same old tired association crap. Now Kool-aid, Who came up with that one? You have been drinking watered down kool-aid for eight years now. Just enough to keep you coming back for more. If you vote for McCain/Palin they are going to add the final dose.

Close your eyes, now imagine Obama is white. Now can you see the forest from the trees?? Or the purple in the rainbow?? What is meant to happen will. God's will.

Clothes don't make the man (or woman), but both Palin and McCain have someting that their opponents lack: courage and integrity, not to mention Obams's problem with his unpatriotic and black-racist close associations.

The Democrats are getting desparate to spend so much time on trivial catfights.

Just what integrity are you speaking of?Is it the fact he left his first wife after meeting  a younger Cindy? Is it the fact he changes his views on taxes so he could get more of the Rep party on his side, since he ran against Bush's tax cuts in 2000?Is it the fact he was "found to have used poor judgement" in his attempts to help Keating in the Savings and Loan Scanal of the 80's?Is it the fact that after fighting for a no torture law he allowed Bush to negate the law thru a signing statement without so much as a word against it?

Last time I looked at the ads for Obama I don't see any of the negative personal attacks that the McCain campaign have used to try to paint Obama unpatriotic and "different".Seems to me they are the ones being trivial and not talking about the real issuses here.

I would like you to consider the possibility that the reason the campaign had to spend money for Palin to look good was because maybe her LL Bean or Walmart turtle necks and sweat pants and her discount work suits didn't cut it, and so to make her look more polished for a position that is closely inspected by the world they spent the money so she could look like a more polished soccer mom rather than the frazzled every day person most of us are.  Would you vote for your neighborhood mom with screaming kids in tow, hair flying away and possibly unwashed, in her stained and grungy clothes?  Consider also the fact that most people who run for national political offices whether or not they win are often in the higher tax brackets and no matter how hard they try to portray the image of an every person to run, campaign, and try takes a different sort of person than most of us.

This really shouldn't come as a surprise to everyone who can see past the rhetoric and lies that are continually shared with the American people.  It doesn't matter what party you support, people should be extremely worried about McCain and Palin continuing the failed policies of Bush.  Not only will the economy worsen, but be rest assured that more conflicts will arise in the world.  What is even more daunting is the possibility that Palin would be at the helm in a national crisis in which she would be responsible for the release of nuclear weapons. Anyone with some education would know this lady is dangerous and not capable of forming a complete thought, much less being in charge of one of the greatest super powers on earth.  Ask yourself:  Is this what our political system has become full of tirades of phony speeches and high school type statements.  Is our country that afraid to have a Black Man in Office, to elect a pair of morons?

How many times do commentors on these things have to be told that Palin's case is not the same as Obama's, Biden's, or even Jackie's?  In this case the RNC skirted very close to the law, and actually tromped all over campaign ethics.  A man can wear the same suit umpteen times and no one cares.  Palin needed a lot of outfits, but nothing near that expensive.  The fact that they also outfitted her family did go beyond what the law allows for political contributions.

Do you all think she is going to be dressed that expensively all the time when she is VP?  Who is going to pay for that?

Will she try to do a Nancy Reagan and have clothing loaned to her by designers?  Nancy looked elegant and classy.  I cannot imagine designers wanting the kind of free publicity they would get from a tramp vamping around in their designs

Condi is not the problem she works for hers. She is the hardest working woman in Washingto DC.

What is the matter with you. Obama is not "communist" nor is he a "Socialist". You've had that planted in your head. You have given him more power than any one human can posess in these days and times. Did you ever stop to think how rediculous that is? Who will assist him when he tries to take over this country? Ask your higher power for some knowledge of your own.

That is why the Democrats are where we are today, we study everything. We don't just go with the majority. We are a individual minded group of intellegent human beings. No wool is over our eyes.

I can probably speak for most Democrats when I say this. .. Most people don't only listen to the candidate they choose. We look, investigate, listen to a viriety of stations, yes, including FOX, to form our own opinion. We make up our own minds. We don't just take what is said by our candidate and run with it.

truthnotsci=fi - Obama is not a socialist, I will agree. He will just run our country in a socialist manner. I think you're giving him more credit than he deserves because I don't think he's smart enough to take over this country. Why the heck would he want to do that? I'm glad you're so level headed and study everything.
The democrats are the most partisan party! I think they have done a lot of damage to this country with their partianship. I have also studied all the issues and I can honestly say that Obama will be bad for the USA. So please look, investigate, listen. Because what your candidate is saying is what he thinks you want to hear. He'll change his stand on issues anytime he wants.

Why does everyone call him an Africian American - I thought I saw pictures of him with a white mother and white grand parents.

Oh Donna, why did he chose to go to a black racist church?

And why are the vast majoroty of African-Americans planning to vote for him? Ah yes, because he's 1/2 white of course.

Why is it that people do not mention or talk about the fact that Obama is 1/2 white???

That's probably becasue Obama does not want to talk about it. He would not get the Black vote that way.

And yes,  the issue of Obama's long relationship with a black racist church does not get much attention because Obama and the liberal media want it that way.
