Starbucks is heading in the right direction! I don't see a degradation in value. I think they have degraded their name more by having their coffee at such places like Barnes & Noble and food markets. Specific places like Target really do well because of the demographic but others give the Starbucks name a cheaper view for consumers.

in short, starbucks sucks. I have to laugh whenever I see some sucker who paid good money for their nasty, overpriced 'coffee.' People are getting smarter, so of course the company is in trouble.

Ithink they need to offer more of thier food and get a variety or they will loose all thier customers to panera bread because they offer gret food and iced latte and other drinks like starbucks .

Come on!!!!!! just give the $2 deal to everyone. It's not like your going to lose any money!

The idea sounds good in theory, but Starbucks is now expecting their customers to shell out more money for that second drink. What if they can only afford to buy one coffee a day, no deal for them. If they lower the cost of their lattes due to the economy troubles, more people would be willing to buy Starbucks, and that would put more cash into their company. Strange enough, this concept can be done. It may also bring back some of their loyal customers who are now visiting Duncan Donuts and McDonalds's instead! Seriously, $4 for latte? Hmm. something to think about.

This is not news, it's free national advertizing for starbucks. What a great deal for poor, ailing starbucks. How can I get free national and internet advertizing for my small Mom and Pop chiro business? Baaaaah, baaaaaah!

$4.00 for a cup of coffee with the economy the way it is? That $4.00 would buy some meat for dinner for a family of 4 if you shop what is on sale and stretch it with veggies! And then they are offering you a $2.00 drink after 2pm! That is $6.00 a day for 2 drinks. Heck that is $180.00 a month! You can buy a coffee pot and make your own coffee and come out way ahead by making your own.
I think we are going to see a lot of non essential businesses close as the economy gets worse.

I am always up for a Starbucks gimmick seeing as how I'm a complete grump without my frap each day. Horrible $4 habit, but I don't smoke or drink alcohol or do drugs so I figure why not. Starbucks coffee has a special kind of caffeine...it's amazing what I can accomplish after my frap. I'm happily wired for hours! I'd get a $2 drink in the afternoon...why not?

                      Go Starbucks, Go Starbucks, Go!

There is one on nearly every corner, sometimes even across the street from each other (which is excessive) but I love Starbucks.

So, I haven't been to starbucks in at least a month, maybe a little longer, I honestly can't remember the last time I went, until yesterday. It was about 2 in the afternoon and my kids would not take a nap so I figured we'd run our afternoon errands. Soon as we left the house I was the one ready for a nap, so I pulled into my neighborhood Starbucks and ordered a Tall Double Chocolately Chip for myself and 2 ice waters for my kids. Upon exiting the driveway, I immediately felt guilty for spending that $3.73 - in my area that is a gallon of gas, which is always much needed in my gas guzzling, 14 mpg, Yukon XL. I was never a Starbucks person until my sister turned me on to it. OMGosh!! She took me once and I was addicted, but since the rise in gas prices and life in general, Starbucks has since fallen off my list of favorites. When I viewed the list of the 600 closing branches, I was very suprised to see that in some cities 5 out of the 6 that were being closed were all on the same street! I love their iced coffee, but I wouldn't go twice a day, even for the deal.

I think it's a good idea as I drink there often. However, after purchasing a drink on Sunday at 12pm, in the suburbs of Memphis, my receipt informed me that I could return for a $2 drink at any Starbucks in the NASHVILLE area!!! It's not THAT good a deal!

Here's the deal. You go in the morning and buy your drink, then give the coupon to your friend so she/he can buy the afternoon drink at a discount. The next day or whenever, you switch places so your friend pays full price and you get the discount. I have tried Starbucks a few times and in all honesty it is way over priced. If you don't have economic problems and can feed your family, put gas in the tank, pay the bills, and have money left over to burn then right on! However, for some caffeine and steamed milk, forget it. I think it is a waste of money. If Starbucks really wanted to give a deal, they would reduce prices for a certain period. How about one year. Let's face it Subway and other sandwich shops have managed to provide a $5 foot long sandwich so how about a reasonably priced cup of coffee?

This is no deal! You have to bring in a morning receipt for coffee from Starbucks before you get the afternoon discount? Big Deal!

A deal on coffee from Starbucks is to be able to buy it w/o the receipt. I don't do Starbucks and will never do Starbucks.

Too much money for crappy coffee. Although the iced coffee isn't too bad!

Hopefully this fad will die sooner rather than later. Save the cash and put it in your retirement account. Much better use for the money.

                                  Such a Bastard

Instead of just saving 'some' money, save 'all' of your money and make coffee at home. Advertisers who tell you that you have to come to their business to save a huge amount of cash now are preying upon the idiots of society. Just stay home and you'll save all of your money, not just some of it...duh.

I'm sick of all the Starbucks hoopla! Either I'm really dumb or surprisingly intuitive, but I never got into it. Who wants to stand in line - or wait in a drive thru - to carry a cup around with you all day (like Brittany Spears) with the Starbucks logo on it. It's like all those folks want you to think they are somehow "special" because they can afford the Starbucks brand. No thanks! I'll save my $5!

This is actually a very good business move for Starbucks. I can already see they are busier in the afternoons than they have been for a long time. I have to admit, it is hard to find a place with a better latte. I guess my afternoon lattes will now have to be iced.

Hey I can make a mean cup of Joe for under $10.......or shall I say for the whole month and technically as many as 12 mean cups of Joe a day for a whole month. The initial investment in my machine pays off in the long run. I bought the mug for under $15 and then I add my own coffee to it...never know the difference when looking at it. I do use it as a treat however, It does taste good for sweet tooth's like me...
