Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Friday called on China to release Tibetan prisoners as he met with the Dalai Lama.
It would have been nice if McCain had reminded the Dalai Lama that he cannot demand religious freedom from China if he doesn't grant it to ordinary Tibetan exiles in Dharamsala, India. In fact, the Dalai Lama has systematically suppressed religious freedom there, and his autocratic exile government is engaged in religious persecution against those who do not follow his religious doctrines to the dot. See for more information.
McCain should have pointed out the Dalai Lama's hypocracy, but then again it was just a convenient photo-op for him ...
What a mix! The Dalai Lama a Pacifist and McCain a Militarist.
Hasn't McCain been trying way to hard lately to impress? He just seems to look like a fool a lot of the time doing it.
he can launch a war against china with this pathetic excuse if he gets elected haha.
It seems to me..The Human Race has finally reached the stage, where lying, cheating, and disrespecting one another, (without any accountability) is the norm....It won't be long now!
Good for McCain, the Tibetan people have been brutally repressed for a very long time with no relief. Of course thanks to people like Bush the US has less influence with China since more and more they own us. quentin -- I've never heard anything about the Dalai Lama repressing any Tibetan exiles, so I'd like to know where you get this info. I know a lady who hosts groups of Tibetan monks who travel around the US and the world, and its been a great experience to spend time with some of the monks. They are very down to earth and fun to be with. Anyway, Ive never heard anything negative about the Dalai Lama from any of the people I know who are involved with Tibetan Buddhism. But regardless, he or any Tibetan does have the right to demand religious freedom from China.
A person from Taiwan toured and studied Tibet and got in touch with not only the lama, also the ordinary Tibetans. Later, he wrote an article about Tibet. I would like to translate an outline of what he wrote here.
In the process of 14 inheritances of the title of Dalai Lama, several dalai lamas died in their early ages because they fought and killed each other for power. So in 1792, the Chinese Qing Dynasty Emperor Chiarnlurng made the famous "Gold Bottle System" for selecting the Incarnated Lama Baby for the purpose of avoiding the lama inheritance fights.
Among the population of Tibet before the communists' rule of Tibet in 1950, 95% are serfs and the remaining are Tusi( Serfs' masters) and monks. At that time, each monastery owns large pieces of land and big quantities of serfs. The serfs are be slaved by birth. Whenever there was a fete, the serfs arms were cut off,and decorticated for the tribute service.
At the Dalai's birthday, he would give orders to the monks to decorticate two kids as sacrifices. If you go to the historical museum in Tibet today, you can see one decortication order personally written by the 14th Dalai Lama before he fled from Tibet to India in 1950.
But whenever those illiterate serfs and sincere Buddhists got ill, they went to the monastery to ask for help from the Dalai Lama and the Lama would bestow his feces to the patients as medicine. The Lama's feces was a kind of medicine for treating the patients and the Tibet ens are crowded to collect the lama' s feces for the purpose of treating illness.
When the slave masters entertained their guests, they would gangbang their female slaves together with their guests, which was a way of showing hospitality by sharing women with their guests.
In 1957, China government took on a land reform by taking away all the land from the slave maters unconditonally. They were ordered to hand over all pieces of land, release all the serfs and exempt all the debts. So in 1959, there was a rebel against the communist rule and then the Dalai escaped to India. But the Panchen Lama didn't escaped as he supported the land reform.
The reform caused splitting between the ordinary Tibetans at the bottom of the society and the monk hierarchy. If you visit Tibet today, you can see that at almost each ordinary Tibetan and herdsman's home,Mao's photo together with the Bodhisattva are hung up for their routine oblation because they were slaves for centuries, and it was Mao who gave them freedom.
The current ethnic policies, educational, medical and housing in Tibet are all financially supported by the China government, which was why most Tibetans are not active in supporting independence.
While the monks and former Masters' don't shave the same view with the ordinary Tibetans, in their eyes, Mao was a criminal who deprived them of their land and serfs. Moreover, in several times of crackdown, their relatives were either jailed or sentenced to deaths by the government, so Mao was their enemy with deep hatred. If you get on the Lhasa street, you would find out all those active independent activist are descendants of either the lamas or former nobility.
Tibet is a in era of violent clash between the Morten civilization and theocratic culture. To uncover semblances of freedom, human rights and independence, you can see it is actually a conflict between modern civilization and theocratic slavery.
This is shameful propaganda and laughable to anyone who knows any Tibetan history.

Daisy, I am a Canadian. The host is CNN, ok?
Excuse me! Am I the only one knew the multiple faces of Dalain Lama and his behavior (thanks to the internet, the information is available to all)?! I learned that one of the old customs of Lamas' is gang raping their female serfs with their house guests (I don't think the movie "Seven Years in Tibet" revealed that, although the German looked a bit tipsy) for entertaiment/enjoyment for the guests? I discussed this with one of my colleagues here, a Tibetan freedom supporter, who argued back by saying "maybe those like to be raped, the Chinese just don't know". Sarkozy or Mercle (the German lady) seem to know (look at their enthusism in supporting Dalai Lama's independency). My observation is that no matter what the truth is, only CNN provides unbiased news reports (whether cut or pasted). Ok?
What did it feel like to be gang raped by their masters? What it feel like to be skinned to celeberate Lama's birthday. What it feels like to have hands or tongue cut off by my master Lamas? From the literature, the monks are said to have superb/extrodinary sexual skills (his Holy fxxx, you know). What is the significance of those practices on their female serfs in gaining these skills? What has been Dalain Lama doing sexually after left his female serfs in 1959? Does he practice anymore? Does CNN know? Does his friend, Sharon Stone (she said she is his friend) know? Is homosexual activity popular among the Budism religion? Some movies in Holywood promote that , although I like Richard Geer's "Pretty Women" (or "Pretty Serf"? Whatever!). Is homosexuality allowed in the old Tibet (there was no legal issue in old Tibetan Serfdom - we all know that the Lamas had non-contested authority - peaceful - pure - democratic - human right - Lamas' right, … bla bla, whatever)? Does homosexuality replace raping? How is the Tibetan theocracy equivalent to democracy? Or does democracy evolve some too? CNN knows, right? One may really wonder if Tibetans want to go back to their theocrasy. If they do, will the French or Germen guarantee anesthetics for those nasty Lama procedures. How about the anticoagulating techniques? The skin would look differently if the blood is not drained completely. You see, I got to worry about these details for people who only watch (the Human Rights Watch).
From the West, I am curious at the academical level, ok?! We are creative, ok?! I invented the internet (maybe Al Gore did it alone), ok?!. You invented paper and fireworks only - that's it. We got the rest, ok?! We invented cars, airplanes, rockets, semi conductors, locomotives, electricity, missles, atom bombs and the peacefulness of the Dalai Lama (the Nobel Prize is for winners not for losers, ok?!). Did we also discover the moral high ground? I mean, invented, er? ah? whatever!
I have to admit that sadly I never heard of the cleaness and purity of Dalai's feces. Do you have any data to share? Please, please? I beg of you. To my knowledge, from normal human colon, the feces contains mostly bacteria. Over 98.76% of the dry weight of the feces is actually of dead bacteria. You die if u eat mine (I may have the mad cow virus from the beef)! What happened to these bacteria in Dalai's belly? How do these turn to be therapeutic? Or are they therapeutic only for me too? Or the serfs had no cure from anything else but his Holy crap? Would it help Sarkozy? How about his Holy urine? Is there any theraputic effect to it, too? What kind of effects do normal people expect from eating these? Is his holy crap still pure after he left Tibet? Does Lamas' feces treat ovarian cancer, or breast cancer, bla, bla…? How about ataxia, bipolar disease (the kind that Sarkozy has), etc.?
Help! Please share your data with me. I will work on it. I am going to make a deal with you to share my Nobel Prize for the discovery of the therapeutic components of his Holy crap - peaceful and medical - with you. Or I will take you as a PhD student for one of above topics.
Actually CNN has directed our attention to the Uighurs (do they have exotic feces too? Lets ask FloCruz) now. You guys only have 56 ethnic groups?! Potentially you can be divided (sliced in common words) into only 56 countries?! No match to Canada, we have hundreds from all over. But we call ours one nation, ok?! Dalain Lama, his Holiness wants to have 1/3 of China's territory sliced for his Serfdom. Then what about the others? Did he discuss his plan with Uighurs? In the riots in Tibet, Tibetans killed the Muslims, too. Who get bigger and who get smaller? The world promotes freedom and independncy. We, the people in the moral high ground will be the judge, ok? But Quebec and Northen Irish are not different ethnics, ok?! They are Canadian and British, and also terrorists (lets review the old news from CNN), so they got crashed, killed, smashed, … whatever. Free Tibet (not Quebec or Northern Ireland), ok?!. Uighurs have "exotic culture" (according to FloCruz, from which school did she learned things?) and Tibetans have exotic feces (unpolluted, according to you, Daisy, I love your data, it makes business sense), so they got to be different and to have right to be independent.
BTW, what are you guys offering Sarkozy (the French President) on August 8? Get some for his lovely wife, too, ok?! Get what? Too bad, his Holy crap will be in Paris in August. Do the Uighurs have exotic feces? What about the Chinese environment? Are their feces badly polluted, too? The Uighurs' must be cleaner, right? Is that why FloCruz is there? Does it taste as good? FloFruz will share some info very soon. Please be generous and offer some, ok?! Did the communists liberate those female serfs. too? Dann!
Daisy, stay home and stay tuned on CNN if you would like some more holy excrement (unpolluted). Free Uighurs!

Tonny, I heard from people who visited Tibet talking that feces from pigs and yaks in Tibet doesn't smell and herdsmen in Tibet use the feces to wash their dishes and woks, Is that enough evidence to prove that Tibetan feces is much cleaner than any other part of the world?
I am not sure if feces from Dalai Lama is smelly, but it is supposed to be a herb in Tibetan medicine and the function of it is to cure vesania and to bring a dead person on his feet. Back in 1950, after the communists took over Tibet, the Dalai Lama went to Beijing to participate in National People's Congress, and his serfs were carefully collecting his feces and urine for taking back to Tibet as medicine.
I am not sure how many dead people his holy's feces has bought back to life so far, probably his friends like Stone would have the advantages to make a trial if she died. In Chinese(Han) medicine, the human feces or some Emperor's feces is not a medicine.
Scientific data shows before 1950, the average life span in Tibet is 35.5years old, compared with 67 years old in March 2008. So people's life has extended 47% after the communists' rule, which probably in some way shows Dalai Lama's feces is less effectively than Chinese medicine and western medicine.
In terms of the Chinese woman I mentioned, I am sorry I spelled the word wrong, the right word should be "dumpling", not "dumming". Do you know dumpling? It is a popular food in China, probably as popular as Pizza in the western world. If you set up a pizza stand on the street to make a business, will you still be arrested?
In early 80s, when China first transformed itself from communism to capitalism, many many laid-off workers from state-run companies went on the streets to sell things like clothes, ice scream, food, vegetable, grocery etc. to get survived. Many of those little business grew into a big successful business later. Street business is called" free market". Till now, free markets in China is still booming.

Thanks, Daisy, I see the reason, now. That's why the Parisans support him to get independent in Tibet, instead of in Paris. It make sense. They probably don't think they would get used to the gangbanging part of the Lamas' expression of hospitality, neither would people like to share their women with Lamas. You cannot do things like that to the romantic people! … Wait a minute, Daisy, how come you sounded like the communists and CNN doing the propaganda thinging?
Anyho! I had goose bumps all over reading the Taiwaneses description and I myself will never visit Tibet. I'll just leave it for CNN to do the cut or paste. I just don't want to go, ok?! Scared! If I have to, I'll go via Afganistan (where Uighurs were from?).
But I cried a lot considering that the Tibetans are humans, too! Their anatomic features were said to be more close to Germans according to the results of the study of a German scientific expetition team sent by Hitler to Tibet in the late 30's searching scientific evidence. It was theorized (hypothethized) that the Arian Nation landed on the Himalaya first. Well, you see, in those days, people sent scientists to Tibet and nowadays people sent reporters, like FloCruz (who barely made much sense!). Dalain Lama was reincarnated, a baby found outside of Tibet, not from Afganistan or Germany, but somewhere near Beijing, right? That's why he thinks himself a Chinese, not a German or a French. Wait a minute, is he a goon, too? Nah.
Further more, the modern DNA technology traced the original recessive somatic genes of blue eyes from a pair of man and woman, whose children probably migrated out of Afganistan back twenty thousands years ago - close enough! Don't you goons and thugs wish that Afganistan papa and mama had gone to the East instead of the West, so you would have a turn to look down on others calling people the goons and thugs?!
How does it feel to be called goons and thugs? I heard you guys felt insulted and "haven't changed for the past 50 years". We all change, at least "we want change!" Look at what that Afganistan papa and mama brought us - the discovery of the moral hight ground!
Meng -- please take your hate speech somewhere else.
Bry33, nothing hatred above, right? Isn't amusing? I just cut some postings from cnn blog and pasted here.
Just want to give some people (including McCain) some basic knowledge about Tibet since they like to give their opinions towards something that they are completely empty-headed.
Bry33, do you know where Tibet is located? Have you read some histroy book about Tibet? Have you visited Tibet personally? I doubt all of that.
Please go to visit it and talk to most Tibetans there before giving your ignorant
opinions and saying what I posted above is just some propaganda. Do you know that you have fallen into some political propaganda yourself?
Yes, I have talked with some Tibetans and have read some history of Tibet. You won't find many people who believe your propaganda.
Bry33, which part I pasted above is not well-founded? Please point it out.
Which history book you have read? A history of Tibet by Dalai Lama? Do you know that Dalai Lama is just a title authorized by the Chinese dynasties? Do you know Tibet was in slavery half a century ago?
How many Tibetans you have talked to? Where were they from? Have you really visited Tibet and talk to people there? And where do you know Tibet is located? Seriously!
Is mentally incompetent McCain going to say we should bomb, bomb, bomb China if they aren't released. Seems to me that violence is McCain's standard solution to problems, that's a scary thought should McCain win in November. World War III here we come.
I'm tired of the McCain lies. First he goads Obama about how he should go to Iraq and Afghanistan, then when Obama calls him on it, McCain complains about Obama going overseas. You can't have it both ways old man. Then for McCain to accuse Obama of treason, this senile idiot has sunk as far down as he can possibly go. McCain ought to consider asking Hillary Clinton to be his VP. They, with their combined lies and exaggerations would make quite a pair.
Someone take the senile sob to a dentist, his oral health is disgusting.
I wonder who told the OLD fool where Tibet was?
Not sure where some of the posters are getting their information, but they need a fact check.
I was interested in seeing the photo, out of curiosity and sure enough, His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama is smiling and "clasping" McCain's hand. Of course he is. It's what he does. He's the incarnation of the boddhisattva Avalokiteshvara and has vowed to incarnate until all sentient beings become enlightened.
Good luck with that, but then I don't have the patience of a boddhisattva.
McCain even flip flops on his photo ops with religious leaders--from Hagee to the Dalai Lama. Well, he's at least progressing.
The Dalai Lama just took a tea break and accomodated the old man. He's just like that.
History has shown that most religions have had their heyday of violence. I'm currently reading a book that discusses the Inquisition--there's some light reading for you...
Someone needs to stand up to China. I salute McCain for his courage to do so with regards the Dalai Lama. It bodes well for future stances regarding human rights as concerns China. The Olympics are not above politics. But I digress. Genocide is a term that is associated with the communist rule of Tibet. Progress for some. The rest are dead. It's funny how this issue went down the tank as America became increasingly dependent on China for debt finance. And there's no need to inform me why the Chinese took over Tibet. I know already - it's because it happened to them. But then that answer is already old fashioned and China is much bolder now. Maybe they've written a new answer and have the trade prowess to enforce it?
